Cape Ann Wild Bird Rescue is now Cape Ann Wildlife, Inc.!
Cape Ann Wildlife, Inc. is a Massachusetts Non-profit Corporation. We
are in the process of applying to become a 501(c)(3) organization with
the IRS. A 501(c)(3) status will allow us to apply for public and
private grants and matching donation programs. We could not have
rehabilitated the creatures that we have to date without the grass roots
help of our community. As word of our work has spread these past few
years, the number of rescue calls have increased to the point where we
have to turn some away. Grants and programs will allow us to expand our
capabilities to care for more sick and abandoned birds.
Jodi Swenson, President of Cape Ann Wildlife, Inc., is a State and
Federally
Permitted Wildlife Rehabilitator. Jodi has been
rescuing and rehabilitating many various species of birds in
Gloucester, Massachusetts since 2005. She specializes in Songbirds,
but has raised
orphans of rare oceanic birds like common murres and dovekies and
other species including mammals like groundhogs and squirrels.
Jodi
has always been an animal lover - she raised a baby pigeon
and tried to save many victims of the neighborhood cats when she was a
child. As an adult she raised her first baby sparrow and she found
so much joy in it that she couldn’t wait to find something else to
save.
Shortly after she found a tiny baby fluff ball seagull, everything changed for her. Please read Sam’s Story in the link above.
The
trials and challenges of raising a single seagull soon exposed her
to a world of wildlife rehabilitators she did not know existed and
her life has never been the same.
